ReBlogged // About.me
Look at the right hand side of my blog page. See that black and white photo? That, my friend, is my About.me profile and my personal window to the world.
About.me is essentially an online business card that lives on the web. About.me offers registered users a simple platform from which to link multiple online identities, relevant external sites, and popular social networking websites. Basically it is a one page personal promotion tool and best of all it is free. Now… move your mouse right over top of my picture and click. Whoosh! You are now connected globally to millions and millions of people. It’s amazing who you will meet in just the first five minutes!
Now, don’t confuse this with being just another social media platform. In today’s highly interconnected world, you need to find new ways of being found – and then standing out! This new tool can help you do just that. Folks from across the globe and from all walks of life have found their way to the About.me community. I’ve spoken with a 20 year old student in Morocco and a 54 year old ex-NFL football player now living in Norway.
“About.me (Usually styled as about.me) is a personal web hosting service co-founded by Ryan Freitas, Tony Conrad and Tim Young in October 2009.[2] The site offers registered users a simple platform from which to link multiple online identities, relevant external sites, and popular social networking websites such as Facebook, Flickr, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube. It is characterized by its one-page user profiles, each with a large, often-artistic background image and abbreviated biography.” – Wikipedia
Yes. I have a new love… and this is their blog: About.me Blog

Jump For Joy! – Photo by Eyoälha Baker http://www.jumpforjoyphotoproject.com
Every day beautiful photos such as this arrive in my inbox from JUMP FOR JOY!’s WordPress blog. Each photo guaranteed to make me smile and change the course of my day. And I think that is her whole point… “I hope to contribute to the shift of our collective focus from the negative to the positive.” Eyoälha Baker “captures the beauty of the human spirit in mid-air through the simple act of taking photographs of people jumping for joy.”
I feel I have found a way to reach the true joy and child-like playfulness within people by having them jump for joy in front of the camera lens. This playful, child-like joy is why I’ve launched the project — Jump for Joy!
“Surrounding yourself with images that uplift your spirit is as important for your health as nutritious food.” – Deepak Chopra in Origin Magazine
Besides the joy of finding these photographs in my inbox every day, Eyoälha also has two major projects happening:
She is raising money via Kickstarter to cover costs of creating an epic public art mural with photos of 100+ people jumping for joy around Vancouver on a 9000 sq. ft. building wall in the Down Town east side. — Jump for Joy Photo Project + Murality Vancouver
And…
All pledges OVER the $5000 mark will go towards completing a book of 10000 people jumping for joy around the world!
“Create art, spread joy, feel good.” I LIKE her.
ReBlogged //Young House Love
I love these people. Or rather I love their blog, Young House Love. It’s personable and friendly while being informative and visually attractive. Plus they’re just such a darn cute couple! They recently released a book called “Young House Love” and have a line of decorative accessories (lights, hooks) available at Target. The Petersik’s also recently added Baby Number 3 to their little family in the midst of all this DIY. I say three because “Burger” the chihuahua is a part of the family too. Nope. I was wrong. I love the people behind the blog too. Sherry and John are self-described as:
I just think they’re fabulous folks! I started reading Young House Love at first because I adore interior decorating and anything DIY. Seriously. Ask my Mother. Or better yet ask yours. I was “that” friend. Yes, I was the friend your Mother invited over when we were 14 to help her move the furniture around and find a new “Look” for the living room. I’ve been rearranging furniture and doing it myself (aka DIY) my entire life. I’m here to tell you that John and Sherry make it look good and make doing it look easy. But not only that… they also show YOU how to do it too. Win/Win!
I look forward to their emails now and have learned a lot about blogging in the process via their wonderful ‘Blogging FAQs’ you see referenced in the above picture. Click on a link and visit their blog. You’ll smile… and you’ll learn something along the way too.

“Because nice matters.”
That’s what the little plaque on my wall says and that’s exactly what my grandmother said too. It’s a motto that I’ve heard/lived by my whole life. This is a great article that explains why it might just matter to you too.
Enjoy!
How Being Humble, Kind, and Calm Will Make Your Life Easier
“You’ve heard it all your life: Being humble, kind, and calm is the “right thing to do.” But if that isn’t enough to convince you, consider this: humility, kindness, and calmness can actually help you get ahead in life.”
